Nathan Green Joins Invicta

Neil Cugley continues to make additions to the squad and Folkestone Invicta are pleased to announce that experienced left back Nathan Green has joined the club from South East Division Cray Valley PM.

Nathan, who has just turned 30 and is 6’2” tall, started his career in the youth system at Croydon Athletic, before breaking into the First Team in 2008 whilst still in the Youth Team, before in January 2010, he joined Isthmian League Division One South side Chipstead on loan. After returning to Croydon Athletic in March 2010, he was part of their side that won the Division One South Title and gained promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division, pipping Folkestone Invicta, who ended as Runners-up, in the process.

In November 2010 he signed for Conference South side Lewes, where he was reunited with manager Tim O'Shea who had previously managed him at Croydon Athletic and he stayed with ‘The Rooks’ for a season before transferring to fellow Conference South side Bromley in August 2011, although that was a short stay as in the following January, he was released by Bromley and he went back into the Isthmian League Premier Division signing for Billericay Town, and helping them to the League Title at the end of the season. After that promotion, he was a regular for the Essex club in the Conference South before joining Isthmian League Premier Division Kingstonian on loan in December 2012, although he returned to Billericay Town after a month.

In January 2013, he joined Conference South side Tonbridge Angels on a free transfer, and during his time with ‘The Angels’ he featured regularly in the First Team, however, he could not save them from relegation to the Isthmian League Premier Division in his first full season with the club.

In June 2014, he moved up two levels and signed for Division Two side Dagenham & Redbridge for an undisclosed fee, signing a one-year contract, making his professional debut for Dagenham & Redbridge in a 2–0 defeat against Northampton Town in September 2014. However, he was unable to cement a regular place in the first team and in November 2014 he went out on loan to Conference South side St. Albans City on a month’s loan. He returned to Dagenham & Redbridge at the end of December 2014, but the following month his contract was terminated, and he left the club having made eight League appearances for ‘The Daggers’.

On his release, Nathan, joined Conference Premier side Dartford on a six-month contract until the end of the 2014/15 season, making his debut in a 2–1 home defeat against Kidderminster Harriers. In June 2015, he rejected a new contract offer from the relegated ‘Darts’ and signed for Margate, who were themselves newly promoted to the National League South, on a free transfer.

He was at Hartsdown Park for a season before moving on to Dulwich Hamlet, who were then playing in the Isthmian League Premier Division, for the 2016–2017 season, scoring his first goal for the club against Metropolitan Police in a 1–1 away draw on 20th September 2016. After three seasons with Dulwich Hamlet,   he left them to join Welling United, of the National League South, in June 2019 and he stayed there for two seasons before joining Cray Valley PM at the start of last season.

Nathan has been a consistent performer over the years, and he was recently named in the Managers’ ‘Team of the Season’ for the South East Division for 2021/22.

Neil said: “This is another signing I’m delighted to have got completed, Nathan has been on our radar for a while, and I’m really pleased to have added him to the squad and he will be a valuable asset down the left-hand side of the pitch.”
