Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th September Round-up

In this week’s Emirates F.A. Cup replays, the Premier Division sides had their shooting boots on, registering some high-scoring wins as all but one got through to the Second Qualifying Round.

Leading the pack on Tuesday was Wingate & Finchley, who won 6-1 at North Division Basildon United. Sam Hatton gave ‘The Blues’ a flying start, scoring after just four minutes, and although their opponents levelled in the 10th minute it was one way traffic after that as five further goals in just thirty-seven minutes from just before the half-hour, from Ibrahim Meite, who scored two, Darnell Goather-Braithwaite, Alphanso Kennedy and Bilal Sayoud wrapped up a convincing victory.

Hornchurch weren’t far behind in the goal stakes as they registered a 4-1 victory at Barton Rovers. A Sam Higgins hat-trick, two in the first half and one in the second, plus a further strike from Charlie Ruff put paid to the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club, who just had a goal six minutes from half-time to show for their efforts. Another side who scored four were Margate, as they won away at Pitching In Southern League Division One Central Thame United. Having scored a stoppage time equaliser on Saturday, ‘The Gate’ made no mistake this time, winning 4-2. The scorer of that late goal, Jake Embery, was in good form again as he grabbed a hat-trick, with the other coming from Lewis Knight.

Horsham beat South East Division Haywards Heath Town 2-0 at home thanks to a Billy Collins own goal in the first half and a Charlie Harris penalty in the second, whilst at Fetcham Grove, Cameron Black’s 24th minute goal was all that separated Leatherhead and South East Division Whitstable Town as the Premier Division side progressed.

The only Premier Division side to go out were Worthing who lost 3-1 at Corinthian-Casuals in the only all-Premier Division tie of the round. Warren Mfula gave ‘The Casuals’ the lead in the 21st minute and this was doubled four minutes after the break when Bobby Mills added a second. Aarran Racine pulled a goal back on the hour and despite some anxious moments, Mills’ second goal two minutes from time wrapped up a 3-1 victory, which was ‘The Casuals’ first competitive win of the new season.

On Wednesday, Kingstonian completed a good replay week for the Premier Division sides by also outscoring all the others with a resounding 8-1 win at home against Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Oxhey Jets. Incredibly, the score was 0-0 until two minutes before half time when Gus Sow gave ‘The Ks’ the lead, but in the second half, Daniel Ajakaiye scored a twenty-one minute hat-trick, Elliott Buchanan chipped in with a brace, whilst Jason Banton and Rhys Murrell-Williamson were also on the scoresheet.
