As we enter December, Neil Smith’s Cray Wanderers side visit the Alcaline Stadium with both sides looking to climb the Isthmian Premier Division table.

Speaking ahead of the weekend Andy Drury said:

“Saturday is a big game, it’s important we pick up our form and begin picking up wins heading into the Christmas period. Last week (vs Bognor Regis Town) I thought we did ok but we were not good enough in the final third, that will need to be much better on Saturday. Cray are a good team and it will be a big test for us. We’ve had a good week settling in at our new training base with 2 good sessions and there’s a positive environment within the squad.”

The manager also added:

“We’ve added a couple of new faces to the squad this week, they’ve trained with us and are ready to go on Saturday. They’re good additions to the squad and we hope supporters will be excited to see them in action.”

Previously

The last 6 meetings between the clubs have produced only 1 home win: Invicta with a 1-0 victory in February 2022.

Wanderers have won on the other 2 of their visits to Cheriton Road since promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division, a 3-1 win in 2020 and a 4-2 win last season. Invicta Meanwhile have taken 5 points from the last 3 trips to Bromley.

All 3 of those previous home fixtures have taken place on a Tuesday night (the last 3 away fixtures also midweek, on Wednesdays) so this will be a rare Saturday afternoon meeting between the clubs. The return meeting is scheduled for a Sunday in March.

The Opposition

Neil Smith’s side currently sit 17th in the Isthmian Premier Division, a point below Invicta with a game in hand.

The Wands are currently unbeaten in 4 matches, a late goal denying them a 3rd win in 4 against Whitehawk on Wednesday night.

Former Ashford United forward Gary Lockyer is top scorer despite only joining the club in September after departing Faversham Town.

All our fixtures are pay on the gate with no tickets sold in advance. Both cash and card are accepted on our turnstiles. Please arrive as early as possible to avoid queues at the turnstiles. 

Food & Drink

The Dugout Sports Bar will be open from 11am showing live sport on 8 screens. The Dugout will be open all, with or without a ticket for the match. The kitchen is currently under refurbishment and hot food will be available from food trucks inside the stadium. 

The Wilf Armory Bar will be open from 2pm and will close at full time. 

Both cash & card are accepted on the turnstiles and inside the stadium.
