Invicta’s U19 side progressed the the quarter finals of the Kent Intermediate Cup on Wednesday night with a 3-1 win over Minster Reserves as the Alcaline Stadium
invicta made 2 changes to the side that won 3-1 at Rusthall in the previous round: with Luke Watkins unavailable George Surgeon started in goal while Lucas Dent (brother of Fin and son of Nick) came into midfield in place of Jake Dancer.
invicta took a firm grip of the tie inside the opening 20 minutes with 2 goals from defender Aiden Cassidy.
In the 13th minute Brad Walledge took a short free kick to Ethan Page who fired a low cross that Cassidy met at the back post to fire into the roof of the net.
6 minutes later Invicta doubled the lead from another set piece, a corner from the right net by Kian Scott in the 6 yard box, finding its way into the net off the back of Cassidy’s head.
Invicta took the 2 goal lead into the break and it took less than a minute of the second half to extend it.
A long pass found Jack Bone who fed Fin Dent into the box with the centre forward managing to work it to Kian Scott who fired home.
The visitors cut the deficit midway through the second half from the penalty spot and would have been given more hope of a comeback when Invicta were reduced to 10 men with Brad Walledge sent off.
Invicta held out however and progress to the quarter finals.
