After 11 days off Invicta return to action with a trip to South London as visit Carshalton Athletic

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s match, joint Head Coach Micheal Everitt said:

“Obviously it’s another difficult away fixture, they’re a good side sat just outside the playoffs. We know their manager well, he’s a good guy and will have them playing good football. The performance, if not the result, was good against Hornchurch and we need to build on that on Saturday and this time get a better result. The lads have worked hard in training during our 10 days off and while we have a couple of possible knocks, we are confident we can go there on Saturday and get a result.”

Invicta’s record at The War Memorial Sports Ground is not good, with 4 defeats and 2 draws in the last 6 visits. We have to go back to 2008 for Invicta’s last win, with Lloyd Blackman on the scoresheet. 

Invicta suffered a 1-0 Monday night defeat to 10-man Carshalton last season in what proved to be Neil Cugley’s final game in charge. A year earlier Invicta also fell on a Monday night as an unbeaten start to the season came to an abrupt end with a 5-0 win for the Robins. 

In face Invicta’s record against Carshalton is not good either home or away. We are without a win in 8, with the last victory coming in the Ryman South, a 3-1 win in April 2016. 

The Opposition

Carshalton currently sit 6th in the Isthmian Premier Division, 1 place and 1 point off the playoffs. After a flying start to the season left the Robins in 2nd place behind early leaders Chatham Town, they are currently without a win in 8 games in all competitions, their last victory coming against Enfield Town on 23rd September. 

14 players have scored for Carshalton so far this season, Danny Bassett leading the way with 7 ahead of Tommy Bradford’s 6.

Carshalton station is just a 7 minute walk from the War Memorial Sports Ground. Trains run from either London Victoria (Southern) or London St Pancras (Thameslink). Either route should take you a little over 2 hours in total from Folkestone if using the Southeastern High Speed service into London. 

If driving it is approximately 80 minutes from Folkestone without traffic.
