After two home midweek friendlies, we now look towards two away days, starting with a trip to Crabble to visit old rivals Dover Athletic.
Previously
Invicta picked up the win last pre-season with an early Scott Heard finish settling the game at Cheriton Road
From The Managers
Speaking on Thursday, joint Head Coach Roland Edge said:
“Tuesday night’s friendly with Brightlingsea was an excellent test for the boys both physically and tactically. It was a great game for identifying strengths in our play and things we need to improve on for the season ahead which is exactly what pre season is all about.
Our next challenge is Dover from the National South. They are always a good side with strength all over the pitch so it is paramount that we turn up and perform to a high level. I’m looking forward to seeing how our boys stand up to the challenge.”
The Squad
Invicta were at near full strength with an entire first team squad bolstered by trialists & academy scholars on Tuesday night and should be so again on Saturday. Callum Davies is close to a return following his summer operation
The Opposition
Our host’s squad is likely to be made up of a large number of trialists but their squad is starting to take shape with the signing of five players midweek. Defender Peter Ojemen will be a familiar face having been part of the Margate side we faced three times last season.
Admission
We have been advised that Dover’s pre-season prices are £10 adult, £9 Over 60, £5 U18 & U11 free with a paying adult.
Travel
While it should not affect those travelling from Folkestone, the A2 is closed this weekend between Whitfield Roundabout and the A256 which may cause delays from those coming into Dover from other parts of Kent.
