From The Manager

Jay Saunders spoke ahead of Saturday’s trip: “We’ve been Saturday-Tuesday now for a long time and we have a busy schedule for the month ahead but we’re enjoying it, which you do when you’re winning games like we have been.

“Being top of the league we are ahead of where I probably expected us to be at this stage, having assembled an almost entirely new squad in the summer, but that’s testament to the hard work everybody has put in so far to get the results and performances we have.

“There’s pressure that comes with that, but I think the real pressure is when you’re at the other end of the league. We’ve told the boys to go out and enjoy it – enjoy that pressure, enjoy playing in front of the crowds, in front of over 1,000 people, enjoy the buzz that’s around us at the moment because we know things can turn very quickly in football.

“We’ve regrouped this week after the Totton game, trained and prepared for Saturday as we look to bounce back against what we know will be a good Cheshunt side. We know the manager and he will always have his teams well organised but we will be well prepared for the task in front of us.”

The Opposition

After a strong start to the season, taking 12 points from their opening five games, wins have been hard to come by for Cheshunt who are without a victory in 10 league fixtures since a 2-1 win over St Albans City on 25th August. The Ambers have managed to pick up wins in four different cup competitions in that time but will be desperate for a win over Invicta on Saturday having seen themselves slide to 17th in the league table.

Recent Meetings

Cheshunt hold a strong record over Invicta in recent years, with four wins in the last six meetings. Invicta are also without a win in the last four visits to Theobolds Lane, our last victory away to The Ambers coming in an FA Trophy tie in 2016 – Joe Taylor, Ashley Miller and Ian Draycott on target for Neil Cugley’s side.

The Manager

Antonis Vasiliou scored three times against Invicta last season, including the only goal in our meeting at Theobolds Lane in March.
