Stephen first developed an interest in opposition scouting during the Covid pandemic. With football on hold, he used the time to gain formal scouting qualifications and study the game in depth with guidance from professional scouts. His first hands-on experience came working alongside Lloyd Blackman at Whitstable Town.

When Lloyd joined Jay Saunders at Margate as assistant manager, Stephen followed and spent a season with the club before the pair moved on to Tonbridge Angels in the National League South.

After leaving Margate, Stephen spent several months producing opposition reports for Newport County in League Two, before reuniting with Jay and Lloyd at Tonbridge.

In his role as opposition analyst at Folkestone Invicta, Stephen is responsible for compiling detailed video analysis of opposition teams, providing the coaching staff with insights to aid their match preparations.
