Folkestone Invicta Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of defender Ollie Black.

A former youth player at Charlton Athletic and Eastbourne Borough, Ollie joined Hastings United in 2018. During a successful spell at The Pilot Field, Ollie was part of the team that reached the Isthmian South East play-offs in 2019, before winning promotion as champions in 2022.

At the end of the 2023/24 campaign, Ollie was awarded the Manager’s Player of the Season award by Chris Agutter, who was impressed enough to take the defender with him to Worthing. Ollie made 21 appearances, including reaching the FA Cup first round, before returning to Hastings on loan in January.

Jay spoke about his latest summer addition: “Ollie’s a player we came up against last season when we were at Tonbridge Angels and he was at Worthing. I’ve known about him for a while. He’s a left-sided defender who is comfortable on the ball but at the same time a very good defender.”

“From the moment we got the job, we wanted to keep an eye on what Ollie did – he was obviously on loan at Hastings. Things then moved quite quickly – I gave him a call, we arranged a meeting and within about 20 minutes he was ready to come on board.”

“He’s a good lad, he’s got a good character and he knows this level, as well as having experience higher up.”

Ollie becomes our third summer signing as manager Jay Saunders assembles his new-look squad ahead of pre-season.

Welcome to Cheriton Road, Ollie.
