Invicta welcome Hanwell Town in the FA Trophy 2nd Round on Saturday afternoon, looking to reach the 3rd Round for a third time in 4 years.
Andy Drury’s side face a big week on the pitch at the Alcaline Stadium, with 2 big Isthmian League fixtures to follow as we welcome Dulwich Hamlet and Bognor Regis Town.
The Isuzu FA Trophy
We are now at the 2nd Round stage of the FA Trophy, which means clubs are now 6 wins away from Wembley.
Clubs from the National League North and South have joined the competition at this stage. 40 ties will be played this weekend, with the 24 clubs from the National League set to join the winners in the next round.
Should Invicta progress, the next round is scheduled for Saturday 7th December.
If the scores are level after 90 minutes, ties will be settled by a penalty shootout.
Saturday’s winners will take home £3,750, the losers £1,000.
The Road To Wembley So Far
Invicta have seen off 2 sides from step 4 so far in the competition, beating Ascot United 8-1 at the Alcaline Stadium before a 3-0 win in Bedfordshire against Barton Rovers.
Dan Smith is currently our top scored in the competition with hit hat-trick against Ascot, Evans Kouassi and Tom Derry with 2 each.

Having beaten Berkhamstead on penalties in the 3rd Qualifying Round, Hanwell saw off Isthmian Premier Division opposition in Hendon with a 5-0 win. Both of those fixtures were at home but Hanwell have visited Kent earlier this season with a 1-1 draw at Sheppey United in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round, eventually winning a replay 6-0.
Team News
Forward Dan Smith will be available for Saturday’s match having had his 3-match suspension overturned this week. Dan was due to miss our 3 upcoming home fixtures, starting on Saturday and including Dulwich Hamlet and Bognor Regis Town, but will now be available for selection.
Unavailable will be defender Joel Odeniran and winger Joe Turner who are both cup-tied having previously featured in the competition for Herne Bay and Horsham respectively.
From The Manager
Andy Drury spoke to our Head of Media ahead of Saturday’s fixture: “We are looking to kick on again from Saturday’s win against Cray Wanderers, in which I felt we were outstanding for the first half but failed to keep that up in the second period but defended well and Jonny [Henly] made a good penalty save to secure us an important 3 points.
The FA Trophy is our final cup competition of the season and we want to take the opportunity to progress as far as we can and give the supporters a cup run. National League side come into the competition in the next round, there are plenty of big names in this competition, we would love to get one of them down to the Alcaline Stadium.
It is a big week coming up, with us following Saturday’s Trophy tie with 2 league games and it is vital we kick off the week with a good performance and result, then follow it up with vital points against Dulwich and Bognor. The lad have had 2 good sessions this week and are ready to go on Saturday.”
