Folkestone Invicta Women bounced back from their first ever defeat to take 3 points on the road at Betteshanger Welfare Development on Sunday 6th October.

On a wet and windy afternoon on the outskirts of Deal, Invicta took just 5 minutes to take the lead. Gianna Moscato beat the Betteshanger goalkeeper to a loose ball on the right, playing it across the face of goal for Rebekah Goodhand to tap home.

Invicta’s second came from the left flank, Goodhand finding player of the match Molly Surridge whose cross found Hayley Turrell who took a touch before finding the bottom corner.

Surridge was again the creator for Invicta’s third shortly before the half hour mark with another cross from the left that was cleared by the goalkeeper as far as Chloe Lloyd who finished off her 1st of the afternoon.

A third came shortly after as Nyah Commons intercepted a Betteshanger throw and found Turrell, the experienced forward playing the ball in behind the backline for Lloyd to chase, Invicta’s number 9 raced past her defender to reach the ball first before firing beyond the goalkeeper.

Surridge rounded off a superb 45 minutes shortly before half time as she raced onto a ball in behind her opposing fullback, beating the covering central defender before firing a low effort inside the near post.

Invicta looked comfortable going into the break but only went on to add one more in the second half, with Chloe Lloyd completing her second hat trick for the club. Maisie Edwards won the ball in midfield, giving it to Goodhand who threaded in behind for Lloyd to race onto and finish under the goalkeeper to complete the scoring.

Invicta may have wanted to add to the scoring in the final half hour but the 6-0 scoreline was comfortably enough to shake off the previous week’s defeat and take them back to the top of the South East Counties Women’s Football League Kent Division 2 East.
