Folkestone Invicta are delighted to announce the signing of Dan Smith.
The forward began his career at Portsmouth after coming through the academy at Fratton Park. During the 2018/19 season Dan featured in the side that would go on to win the EFL Trophy as well as loan spells at Bognor Regis Town, scoring 14 goals in 21 appearances, and Cork City where he he made 10 appearances including the Munster Senior Cup Final where he scored in a 3-1 win over Midleton.
Following his departure from Portsmouth in the summer of 2019, Dan joined Bognor Regis permanently, picking up where he left off the previous season as he scored 27 goals in 43 appearances on the South coast.
Unsurprisingly, that form attracted the attentions of National League side Eastleigh where he would spend the next 2 years, including spells on loan at Hereford in the National League North and Weymouth in the National League.
In the summer of 2022 Dan made the move to Dulwich Hamlet in the National League South, where injuries limited him to just 15 appearances before departing the following summer to make a return to Bognor Regis.
Dan scored 8 goals in 36 appearances last season at Nyewood Lane where he caught the attentions of Andy Drury who has made him his 7th summer signing.
“I’m delighted to sign Dan,” Dukes said to the media team today, “He’s impressed me whenever I have seen him play or played against him. He made it clear before the end of the season he wanted to come to Folkestone and I’m delighted to have signed him, having previously tried on 2 occasions. He has played at a good level and is determined to get back there with us. He can play anywhere across the front line and midfield giving us great options.”
Welcome to Cheriton Road, Dan.
