Folkestone Invicta Football Club wishes to communicate to supporters following the recently postponed fixtures at home to Potters Bar Town (10th Feb) and Concord Rangers (24th Feb).
Firstly, we wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused to the players, officials and supporters of both Potters Bar Town and Concord Rangers, who had made the long journey to the Alcaline Stadium before the fixtures were then postponed by the match officials. We understand this is especially frustrating given the current fixture backlog faced by both clubs.
Secondly, we wish to apologise for the inconvenience caused to our own supporters. We fully understand the frustration of coming to the Alcaline Stadium after being told the game is on, only for it to be called off so close to kick off by the match officials.
It is important to stress that matches cannot be called off by the football club, only by qualified officials.
In both of these instances, the pitch was passed as playable in the morning. But heavy and persistent downpours shortly after left both fixtures in jeopardy, and match officials made the decision at 2pm to postpone the games.
As a football club we are very disappointed to have seen both matches postponed. Not only do we wish to cause as little disruption to the players, officials and supporters of both clubs involved, but with postponements affecting our income and cash flow, we always wish to get fixtures on.
It is unfortunate that in both of these recent cases, postponement has been unavoidable.
All information regarding pitch inspections, fixture changes or postponements will always be communicated as promptly as possible across our official social media channels: Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp. We urge all supporters to follow us on these channels and to check them for the most up to date information ahead of fixtures, especially during periods of wet weather.
With seven home games remaining, the first being our rearranged fixture against Potters Bar Town tomorrow night, we look forward to welcoming our supporters back to the Alcaline Stadium, as Andy Drury and his team aim to finish this season on a high.
