News from the Alcaline Stadium

The past week has seen more changes to Andy Drury’s squad at the Alcaline Stadium, with Michael Kedman coming in, Jordon Ababio joining Ashford United on loan and Scott Heard departing to join Herne Bay.

The manager is hoping to have one more name added to his side ahead of Tuesday night’s fixture so make sure you keep an eye out for that.

Defender Toby Byron will begin a 3 match suspension following his sending off against Hornchurch last week while Joe Coleman may well be a doubt having picked up a knock early in Saturday’s win.

Speaking ahead of the weekend Andy Drury said:

“The lads put in a great performance on Saturday and got a great 3 points to go with it so on Tuesday night we will be looking to follow that up and make it back to back wins as we try to climb the table.

The next 3 games are against the 3 sides around us so it’s important we maintain a high level and pick up as many points as possible.”

Previously

The last 6 meetings between the clubs have produced only 1 home win: Invicta with a 1-0 victory in February 2022.

Wanderers have won on the other 2 of their visits to Cheriton Road since promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division, a 3-1 win in 2020 and a 4-2 win last season. Invicta Meanwhile have taken 5 points from the last 3 trips to Bromley.

We pointed out in our preview of the original fixture that all 3 of those previous home fixtures have taken place on a Tuesday night (the last 3 away fixtures also midweek, on Wednesdays) so that would have been a rare Saturday clash between the sides, but will instead now be another Tuesday night match. The return meeting is scheduled for a Sunday in March.

The Opposition

Tuesday’s sides couldn’t be more closely matched, with Cray Wanderers sitting below Invicta on goals scored, although the Wands have played 2 games fewer.

Neil Smith’s side won away from home on Saturday, beating Carshalton Athletic 2-1 thanks to a brace from Ellis Brown but it’s hard to pin down away form for The Wands  who have only played 5 times away from home in 3 months, compared to 11 at home in the same period.

Admission  

All our fixtures are pay on the gate with no tickets sold in advance. Both cash and card are accepted on our turnstiles. Please arrive as early as possible to avoid queues at the turnstiles. 

Food & Drink

The Dugout Sports Bar will be open from 11am showing live sport on 8 screens.

The kitchen is now open following refurbishment and is serving a new menu.

Food will also be available from a food truck inside the stadium and well as hot pastries available from both the Dugout and the Wilf Armory tea window.

The Wilf Armory Bar will be open from and will close approximately an hour after full time. 

Both cash & card are accepted on the turnstiles and inside the stadium.
