Our first league action in 3 weeks sees us take the tough trip to Horsham on Saturday in search of 3 points to take into Christmas.

Andy Drury spoke on Thursday evening:

“We go to Horsham on Saturday, it is always a tough place to go and they are a team in good form. We’ve made a number of additions to the squad since our last league match, supporters got to see 3 of those on Tuesday night and we can now bring in Seidou (Sanogo) and Chris (Sessegnon) to further strengthen our side. I felt that Tuesday’s performance was more positive, as well as getting minutes in legs after 2 weeks off, and we then trained well on Thursday as we try and gel the new group together quickly. As I said it is a tough place to go but we go there looking to bring home 3 points to head into the Christmas period.”

The Camping World Community Stadium was opened in 2019 and Invicta have visited 4 times, with 2 wins and 2 defeats.

A single goal from Johan Ter Horst was enough to seal 3 points on our first visit in August 2019, with the hosts missing an injury time penalty. Due to the COVID19 pandemic we had to wait until March 2022 for our next visit and were beaten twice in the space of a week, 5-0 in the Velocity Cup semi final and 3-2 in the Isthmian Premier Division.

We last made the trip back in February and despite going 1-0 down to a gaol directly from a corner a penalty from Ira Jackson Jr and second half goals from Scott Heard and Ibrahim Olutade turned the match around and saw us leave with all 3 points.

The Opposition

Horsham currently sit 7th in the Isthmian Premier Division with 27 points from 15 games and have up to 5 games in hand on some of those sides above them.

Those games in hand are a result of some impressive cup runs. The Hornets made it to the 2nd round of the FA Cup where they were eventually knocked out by Sutton United. Their run featured an impressive 3-3 draw away to Barnsley before being beaten in the replay back at home, only for the FA to overturn the result after it was found Barnsley had fielded an ineligible player.

They are also still in the FA Trophy and are due to host Peterborough Sports of the National League North in the 4th round next month.

Former Invicta winger Kadell Daniel will be a familiar face among the Horsham squad.

Horsham is on the Thameslink line that is accessible from either St Pancras or London Bridge. The 98 bus will take you from the town centre to the stadium.
