Report by Richard Styles.
On Friday, our Tactic Team booked their place in a Tactic FR Cup Final with a 2-0 win against Chatham Town.
Both teams prepared for the game to give it everything they could to reach a final.
The game started very frantic, with both teams looking to gain early advantage. As the game settled Folkestone started dominating the 1st and 2nd ball duels across the pitch. The Folkestone press was also evident and difficult for Chatham to break out.
There were chances for Harry Linford, Teddy Weight, Jude Kent throughout the half and it looked to be a frustrating one just before half time with Folkestone being wasteful in front of goal.
Just before half time, Harvey Caldwell went on a driving run forwards from defence which took him to the edge of the Chatham penalty area before he was brought down for a free kick. Harvey picked himself up to take and delivered a sublime free kick that flew into the top corner causing mass celebrations from the team and surrounding academy players.
The second half started much like the first, Chatham were trying to get back into the game, while Folkestone were trying to double their lead.
Harris Dove made a great save from a shot outside the box that was flying into the top corner.
Jude Kent scored a worldie of a strike inside the box, but was ruled out for offside.
Harris then delivered a kick the went over the top of the entire Chatham defence, allowing Oscar Weight to run onto the loose ball and finish first time, lobbing the ball over the Chatham goalkeeper.
All in all a very good cup game from both teams, but also a good performance from Folkestone who worked the game plan excellently.
A great achievement for all, we will now play Wealdstone in the Final, details of this final will be shared in due course.
