A strong performance on Wednesday and another valuable three points ensured that Folkestone Invicta took all three points home with them.

The game started close, with Ebbsfleet having a lot of possession but unable to really create anything with it. A couple of half chances in the first 30 minutes from Teddy Weight and Harry Linford.

Ebbsfleet scored first when a long ball wasn’t dealt it allowing them to capitalise and go 1-0 ahead.

Invicta fought back, after a great run down the right from Teddy Weight to the bar line, cutting in and squaring it to Harry Linford, who set the ball to an oncoming Jude Kent to equalise before half time.

The second half started brightly and was more of the same for the duration, Ebbsfleet being unable to breakdown Invicta’s shape and defence, before Invicta hitting them on the break. On the 65th minute a ball out to Taylor Kemp who’s explosive pace beat his defender before having a good shot saved. Taylor made a massive impact in the second half and was a continuous threat down the right, again going down the line and putting in a low cross, that was met by Harry Burchett who was unable to get a shot away, ball rolling to Teddy Weight inside the box who stroked the ball into the net.

It soon became three, when a long ball, being chased by Harry Linford was miscommunicated. Harry chased and didn’t give up before nudging the ball past the oncoming GK in what would have been a penalty had the ball not of gone into the net.

Ebbsfleet made some changes and had to take chances, they scored in the 85th minute meaning they had hope for the final stages to create something, but Invicta stayed strong and resolute, seeing out the game and winning the game.

A very good team performance throughout the game, where Ebbsfleet just couldn’t find a solution to our shape out of possession.

There were National League Debuts for Liam Wanstall and Harry Burchett, who both did superbly.
