Folkestone Invicta Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of experienced centre forward Joe Pigott.

The 31-year-old reunites with manager Jay Saunders after departing League One outfit Leyton Orient earlier in the summer. Joe worked under Saunders at Maidstone United during the 2016/17 season, joining initially on loan from Cambridge United before making the move permanent in the summer of 2017.

In 2018, he signed for AFC Wimbledon from Maidstone United and became the first player to score at their new Plough Lane home.

Joe started out his professional career with Charlton Athletic, making 12 appearances in the EFL Championship before enjoying loan spells at Bromley, Gillingham, Newport County, Southend United and Luton Town.

Most recently, he has represented Ipswich, Portsmouth and Leyton Orient – spending last season back at AFC Wimbledon on loan, where he helped the Dons secure promotion through the EFL League Two play-offs.

You can hear from Joe who spoke to Invicta TV after putting pen to paper this week.

Jay Saunders spoke about his latest acquisition: “I’m delighted to bring Joe to the club. He’s obviously someone I’ve known for a long time and worked with before at Maidstone.

“We’ve kept in contact ever since and have been speaking frequently throughout the summer. The opportuntity came up to get him in and he was keen to come down.”

“It’s a big signing for us and we’re fortunate to have him at the club. I know he’s had a lot of interest so for us to get him in is a big coup.”

“Pigs is a very good player and a very good person. He joined up with the lads in training this week and has fitted in really well. He’s someone that will add a lot to the good group we’ve got already.

“He’s got experience but is still at a good age. He’ll also be a big help to the younger forwards we’ve got which is a massive bonus for us.”

Joe is available to sponsor this season for just £150. Please email partnerships@folkestoneinvictafc.co.uk if you’re interested.

Welcome to Cheriton Road, Joe.
