From The Manager
Jay Saunders spoke this week ahead of the fixture: “Saturday will be a difficult game. Whitehawk have had a good start to the season – I’ve watched a couple of their games, they’ve got good players and are a good side. They’re never an easy team to play.
“We’ve prepared this week, a couple of good training sessions and we head into Saturday looking for three points.”
The Opposition
Whitehawk have had a strong start to the Isthmian League season, unbeaten in six games since their opening day defeat to Ramsgate. Three league wins in a row has carried Shaun Saunders’ side up to 7th after five matches, just a point off the play-offs at this early stage. The Hawks picked up back-to-back 1-0 wins over the August Bank Holiday weekend, including ending Dulwich Hamlet’s 100% start to the season.
The Manager
Shaun Saunders departed the Enclosed Ground in the summer of 2024, having guided The Hawks back to the Isthmian Premier Division, securing a 9th-place finish. Saunders then returned to the dugout in November 2024, his first game back in charge a 1-0 win over Invicta. An upturn in form pulled Whitehawk 10 points clear of releagtion by the end of the season.
One To Watch
With five goals in seven appearances, Charlie Lambert has had a flying start to the season. The 25-year-old forward departed Whitehawk in November last year to join Sussex rivals Bognor Regis but returned just one month later for a third spell at the Enclosed Ground.
