We’re back on the road on Saturday with one of our longest trips of the season, to Norwood Lane to take on Bognor Regis Town.

Invicta are looking to end a run of 3 away defeats, our last win on the road coming at Hendon at the start of February.

Team News

Dean Rance missed last week’s 1-1 draw with Potters Bar through injury.

Colours

Invicta will take to the pitch in our red & white away colours, with the hosts in white & green

From The Manager

Manager Andy Drury spoke ahead of the fixture: “The long trip to Bognor Regis kicks off a busy week for us and we want to kick it off with a good performance and a good result to take into back-to-back home games.

Bognor are a side fighting for their lives and have picked up results over the last month to give themselves a chance, we expect them to come out fighting tomorrow and we need to be on our game. It will be very different conditions from our last meeting, we expect a good surface there that we can play football on.”

Previously

A win for Invicta back in November at a sodden Alcaline Stadium brought an end to a 3-match winning run for The Rocks. Dan Smith bagged a hat-trick in torrential conditions as Invicta ran out 4-1 winners.

Our last 2 trips to Nyewood Lane have come on the final day of the season, Invicta beaten without scoring on both occasions. Our last win on the south coast came in October 2021, Ade Yusuff, Jordan Wright and David Smith all on the scoresheet as Invicta came from 2-0 down to win 4-2.

The Opposition

It’s been a long, hard season for The Rocks who have spent most of it rooted to the bottom of the Isthmian Premier Division table. Manager Robbie Blake departed the club in November and was replaced the following month by joint-managers Jamie Howell and Michael Birmingham. Recent wins over fellow strugglers Canvey Island and Bowers & Pitsea should have given Bognor hope that they can pull off a great escape, with 9 games remaining to overcome a 10 point gap to Canvey in 18th.

The Manager

Jamie Howell and Michael Birmingham took over at joint-managers in December after the departure of Robbie Blake. Howell was Blake’s assistant up until October while Birmingham is a former club captain at Nyewood Lane, joining from Isthmian South Central side Horndean.

Key Man

Tommy-Lee Higgs is Bognor’s top scorer this season, with 22 goals in all competitions. The 20-year old former Southampton forward netted the winner against Bowers & Pitsea last month and an injury time equaliser away to Carshalton last week, earning vital points in Bognor’s battle for survival.
