First Team
Isthmian League Premier Division Tue 11 February Champion Hill
Dulwich Hamlet
Folkestone Invicta
19:45

After Saturday’s home fixture against Chichester City was postponed, Invicta travel to Champion Hill on Tuesday evening to take on Dulwich Hamlet.

With a large crowd expected, supporters are urged to purchase tickets online in advance. Tickets can be purchased here.

Invicta come into the game on the back of 3 consecutive wins.

A win could lift Invicta up to 8th in the Isthmian Premier Division, should Chichester City fail to take a point or more away at league leaders Dartford. 3 points would also draw Invicta level with Hashtag United ahead of our trip to Parkside on Sunday.

A win in South London would leave Invicta 9 points off the playoffs with a game in hand.

Folkestone Invicta Supporters Club is running travel for the fixture. More info can be found here.

Team News

Invicta will be without former Dulwich man Dan Smith but manager Andy Drury should have an otherwise full squad to select from.

Ade Yusuff and Nathan Green both reached milestones in our last outing, with Ade making his 200th appearance for the club and Nathan his 50th.

From The Manager

Manager Andy Drury spoke ahead of the fixture: “Saturday was frustrating for everybody to have the game called off but the lads are hungry to get back out on the pitch on Tuesday night at Dulwich. We’re on a good run of form, we’ve put in 3 good performances and we need to maintain that as we look to put pressure on the teams above us.

It’s not the first time this season we will come up against a team under new management. As a club they’ve probably underachieved this season, but they have been strong at home and we’ve no doubt we will come up against a good side on Tuesday night who are coming off a boost of a 3-0 win on Saturday. We need to be at our best, to go out and show we are good enough to chase down the top 5 with a good performance and a result.”

Previously

Invicta ran out 2-1 winners when the sides last met at the Alcaline Stadium in November. Amadou Kassaraté struck either side of half time before Luke Wanadio struck late on for the visitors. You can watch highlights on Invicta TV.

Invicta have otherwise found wins against Dulwich hard to come by but a strike from Ade Yusuff secured a 1-0 FA Cup win at Champion Hill in October 2022. Invicta played for nearly an hour with 10 men after Nathan Green was dismissed in the first half but held on against the National South side to progress to the 4th Qualifying Round.

The Opposition

Dulwich Hamlet made a change of manager days before this fixture was due to be played last month, with Hakan Hayrettin departing and veteran forward Danny Mills set to have taken charge. The following week former Welling United and Hemel Hempstead manager Bradley Quinton was appointed first team manager until the end of the season. After a baptism of fire, losing to Billericay, Chichester City and Horsham, Quinton has lead Dulwich to back-to-back 3-0 wins over Sutton Common Rovers in the London Senior Cup and at home to Isthmian Premier Division strugglers Bowers & Pitsea on Saturday. Saturday’s 3 points leaves them 4 clear of the bottom 4, having played a game more than both Hendon and Hastings directly below them. With the 4 sides around them all playing against each other on Tuesday evening, Dulwich will be looking for a vital win to ease worries of relegation to step 4.

Familiar Faces

Invicta have a number of former Dulwich men in our current squad. Defenders Marvel Ekpiteta and Nathan Green and forwards Ade Yusuff and Dan Smith have all called Champion Hill home in the past. Luke Wanadio will be the name best known to Invicta supporters from the current Dulwich squad, having spent the second half of the 2021/22 season at Cheriton Road.

The Manager

Bradley Quinton took charge of Dulwich Hamlet last month after the departure of Hakan Hayrettin. Quinton stepped into management at Enfield Town, where he spent the final years of his playing career, before taking charge at another of his former clubs Braintree Town. Quinton moved into Kent at Welling United early in 2020 and lead the club through the COVID19 pandemic before departing the following year, followed by a spell with Hemel Hempstead.

Key Man

Former Invicta winger Luke Wanadio returned for his 2nd spell at Champion Hill in the summer of 2023. After finishing last season as top scorer with 23 goals, Wanadio is well on his way to beating that tally with 19 already this campaign, including a strike against Invicta in November.
