A game that needs no introduction, especially after the drama of our August trip to Crabble, Invicta welcome Dover Athletic to the Alcaline Stadium for a Bonfire Night Derby.
Team News
Dean Rance is available to return for Invicta after missing the trips to Barton Rovers and Carshalton Athletic.
Chris Sessegnon is back in light training following a dislocated shoulder against Ascot United last month. Matthias Fanimo and Ian Gayle both missed Saturday’s fixture with an injury.
From The Manager
Andy Drury spoke to our Head of Media ahead of the fixture – “I knew the rivalry existed between the two clubs with them being close geographically but I wasnt aware of how big it would be until our trip to Dover in August, with the clubs not having played each other competitively for so long.
When you are in different divisions for that length of time a rivalry can dissipate but now we are competing at the same level it is great to have that between the clubs again, it draws great attention to both clubs and most importantly draws in good crowds.
The win there in August was a very good result for us, especially where we were as a group and I feel we have come a long way since then, both as a group and we have strengthened our squad in certain areas that we needed to.
I’m looking forward to trying to win another derby, in front of a big crowd, I expect the atmosphere to be incredible in the stadium on the night and it is on us to ensure those fans go home with a buzz in their step.
Having played in derbies with Ipswich and Luton which were intense, it always adds a bit more pressure onto that game, but we have an experienced group that I expect to be able to cope with that and keep their cool and their discipline.”
