Invicta will be looking to make it back to back wins in the Isthmian Premier Division on Saturday as we travel to Chichester City for the first of 2 trips to Sussex in 4 days. Tuesday’s trip to Horsham is dependent on the result of their FA Cup tie at Margate on Saturday and will have to be postponed again should they require a replay.

Saturday will be our only away fixture this month, having played 3 fixtures at the Alcaline Stadium since we travelled to Ramsgate on 31st August.

Invicta will line up in black & amber at Oaklands Park with the hosts in their home kit green and white.

Team News

Invicta will be almost at full strength for Saturday’s match, with Tom Derry the only absentee as he serves a 3-match suspension for his sending off against Billericay Town earlier this month.

Manager Andy Drury made 10 changes on Tuesday night for our Kent Senior Cup 1st Round tie with Phoenix Sports, supporters can likely expect a similar number again for Saturday with a team that resembles that which beat Horsham on Saturday.

Sam Blackman may be in line for his league debut having made his first appearance for the club on Tuesday evening following his loan spell at Hythe Town.

New signings Khale Da Costa and Matthias Fanimo made their debuts against Hendon and Phoenix Sports respectively, while Jack Jebb has returned from injury and has 80 minutes under his belt after returning from injury.

From The Manager

Manager Andy Drury spoke ahead of Saturday’s fixture: “We are looking to follow up last Saturday’s win against Hendon with a similar performance as we travel to Chichester City. We expect to come up against a good side who have made the step up to this division well and are well drilled both in and out of possession. We had a good session on Thursday, confidence and morale are high in the camp ahead of what will be a tough 7 days with two away trips followed by an FA Trophy tie. Despite it being a long trip we hope to see a good following in black & amber on Saturday and we want to be at our best to reward their commitment and support with a result.”

Previously

Saturday will be the first ever league meeting between the two clubs but we have met twice in cup competitions in 2022. Invicta made the long trip on a cold Tuesday evening in January, coming from 2-0 down at half time to win 5-3. We hosted them later in the year for an FA Cup tie, winning 3-0 at Cheriton Road.

18/1/22 – Chichester City 3-5 Invicta (Velocity Trophy)
17/9/22 – Invicta 3-0 Chichester City (FA Cup)

The Opposition

Having been promoted via the Isthmian South East Division Playoffs in May, Chichester City have had a positive start to life in the Isthmian Premier Division, taking 10 points from their opening 7 games.

Chichester have play 4 times on their new 3G playing surface this season, winning 2 and losing 1 in the league plus a 2-2 draw with National League South side South Town in the FA Cup.

Jimmy Wild is the danger man, with 9 goals in just 8 appearances this season. Jimmy is in at least his third spell with the club, a product of their youth system that returned in 2019 and again at the end of last season. Despite only playing his first league game back at Oaklands Park on 30th December he still finished last season as the club’s top goalscorer with 17 goals in 21 appearances.
