Invicta return to Isthmian Premier Division action on Saturday as we welcome Billericay Town to the Alcaline Stadium.

Invicta

After a busy August, Invicta have been able to regroup following Saturday’s FA Cup exit with a free midweek for Andy Drury to put his players to work on the training pitch.

Drury will be buoyed by the returns of Dean Rance and Amadou Kassaraté from suspension, while Eze Ebuzoeme will miss out following his dismissal at Ramsgate.

Invicta currently sit 10th in the Isthmian Premier Division with a game in hand as we await a decision on last month’s abandoned fixture at Wingate & Finchley.

From The Manager

Manager Andy Drury spoke on Thursday:

“I am looking forward to Saturday as we look to bounce back from last week’s disappointing result at Ramsgate. Without a midweek fixture we have had a good week on the training pitch, there has been a good buzz about the squad and the lads are raring to go at the weekend.

In Billericay, we know we are coming up against a really good side on Saturday who are one of the favourites to win this division. They remain unbeaten in the league after a tough start . Gary McCann has put together a very strong squad with some good attacking options, it is up to us to be up to that challenge on Saturday to take all 3 points.

Missing Eze [Ebuzoeme] will be a blow, but having [Dean] Rancey and Amadou [Kassaraté] back from suspension is a real boost for us. Jack Jebb is now a couple of weeks away from action, so we hope to have him on the pitch before the end of the month and we may make an addition to the squad before Saturday.

After Saturday we have a weekend off to regroup after what has been a really tough start to the season, including what was a tough cup draw.”

Previously

Invicta boast a good record against our visitors from Essex, unbeaten in the last 7 meetings between the sides including 3 wins from 4 since Billericay’s return to the Isthmian League 2 years ago.

Last season Invicta took all 6 points, with a 1-0 win at the Alcaline Stadium in November thanks to a last minute goal from Luke Holness followed by a 2-1 win in January with goals from David Smith and Kane Penn.

The last time Billericay took 3 points from Invicta was in September 2016 and Andy Drury’s side will be looking to make sure that run continues on Saturday.

The Opposition

Like Invicta, Billericay will be looking to bounce back from exiting the FA Cup last Saturday after being beaten 2-1 at home by Bowers & Pitsea.

In the league however, Gary McCann’s side are unbeaten after 5 games with 2 wins and 3 draws that leaves them sitting 6th place in the Isthmian Premier Division table. They are 1 of only 2 sides still unbeaten, alongside leaders Lewes who also exited the FA Cup this week on penalties.
