Invicta complete the August Bank Holiday double header with a trip to Hastings United. 

Invicta

Invicta will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat against Cray Valley PM at the Alcaline Stadium. 

Amadou Kassaraté made his Invicta debut on Saturday before being sent off, along with Dean Rance, but both will be available for the trip to Hastings with their suspensions taking 7 days to come into effect. 

Sam Blackman has joined Hythe Town on loan and made his debut on Saturday as they lost to Beckenham. Joel Odeniran has also joined a club in the Isthmian South East Division on loan.

Manager Andy Drury spoke following Saturday’s match at home to Cray Valley PM:

“I’m incredibly proud of the lads for what they put into Saturday’s game; the work-rate and the character they showed when down to 10 and then 9 men is a credit to the group we have here. The boys dug deep and stayed in the game and we are disappointed not to have taken something from the game with the chances we created. 

Bank Holiday double headers are tough, especially after the effort the boys had to put in yesterday but we had a good recovery session after the game and are now preparing for the trip to Hastings tomorrow. It’s been a tough start to the season, with the teams we have played, and tomorrow will be no different but we head down there in full confidence that we can return with a result.”

Invicta will line up in red & white at Hastings with our hosts in maroon. 

Previously

The sides have met on 5 occasions since Hastings were promoted to the Isthmian Premier Division, with Hastings winning on 4 occasions.

Hastings won all 3 meetings last season; home & away in the league plus a Velocity Cup tie. 

The Opposition

Hastings got off to a flying start to the season, beating Horsham and Whitehawk in Sussex derbies, but have since squandered a 2-0 lead to draw with Bognor Regis Town before losing 2-0 away to Potters Bar on Saturday.

Former Invicta fullback Kane Penn started the first 3 games of the season but missed Saturday’s defeat at Potters Bar so may not feature against Invicta.

Travel

Always check rail times/strike action before you travel. 

The rail journey to Hastings takes a little over an hour with services departing once an hour, changing at Ashford International.

Ore station is closer to Pilot Field than Hastings, so will provide a quicker route back to Kent after the match (or a more direct route to the ground for those not wishing to head into Hastings for refreshments before kick off)

Tickets are available to buy online. Prices on the day, either online or on the gate, go up by £1.
