Our second pre-season fixture sees Andy Drury take his side to The Belmont Ground to visit his former club Whitstable Town.

Invicta

Manager Andy Drury will return to his former side, having manage Whitstable Town for a brief spell at the end of the 2021/22 season.

From The Manager

Speaking following Saturday’s win at Sheppey, manager Andy Drury said:

“It was nice to dust the cobwebs off, get used to playing 11v11 and get 45 minutes, 60 minutes into the lads. We might have one or two back on Tuesday that weren’t with us today.

The boys are going to get the main part of their pre-season from matches so we need to make sure we get the most out of these games and progress as pre-season goes on.

Results aren’t the most important thing for now, when we get to the last 3 or 4 games they will, but it’s important now to get minutes into the boys and get them to gel as a team.”

Kit

Invicta will line up in black and amber stripes with Whitstable Town wearing their all red home kit.

Previously

Invicta last visited The Belmont 4 years ago for. pre-season friendly, finishing 4-2 winners with goals from Adem Ramadan, Clark Woodcock and Johan Ter Horst.

The last competitive meeting between the clubs came in 2019, Invicta winning 4-0 in an FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round tie with a brace from Ira Jackson Jr plus goals from Johan Her Horst and Sam Hasler.

The Opposition

Whitstable Town are under new management ahead of the new SCEFL season, with Jamie Coyle taking the reins after Marcel Nimani departed to take over reins at Sevenoaks Town.

There will be a few familiar faces lining up for the home side: defender Finn O’Mara has made the move over from Faversham Town this summer, right back Jerald Aboagye has come in from Sevenoaks and forward Jerson Dos Santos from Sheppey United.

Whitstable have so far lost away to Deal Town and Margate so far this summer, both sides in the Isthmian South East.

The Venue

Whitstable Town’s Belmont Ground is situated next to Whitstable Cricket Club, access the carpark via the entrance on Grimshill Road.

A 3G surface was laid 2 summers ago. A seated, covered main stand is situated on the south side of the pitch with cover behind both goals for supporters.

Travel

Always check rail times/strike action before you travel.

There are TWO train routes to Whitstable from Folkestone: you can change once at Margate or twice at Dover & Faversham. Oddly, changing twice will save you approximately 30 minutes.

There is only one train back after the match however, 21:59 from Whitstable which will get you home at around midnight.

Admission

Tuesday’s friendly is £5 entry for adults and concessions and FREE for under 16s (under 14s must be accompanied by an adult). Supporters can pay by card on the turnstiles.
