Folkestone Invicta are delighted to announce the signing of Matt Young.
The midfielder joins us from Haringey Borough where he scored 15 times in 44 appearances last season, including a strike against Invicta at Cheriton Road in the FA Trophy.
Matt began his career at Leyton Orient, making his debut on the final day of the 2020/21 EFL League Two season as a substitute against Salford City.
Matt made a further 14 appearances in League Two the following season, as well as 4 appearances in cup competitions.
The 2022/23 season was spent on loan at Wealdstone, Haringey Borough and Hemel Hempstead before departing Orient last summer to join Haringey permanently. Having already scored 4 in 14 for the North London side during his loan spell, Matt took his numbers to 19 goals in 58 appearances in total at Step 3.
Andy Drury spoke on Monday after securing his 10th singing of the summer: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign Matt, a player, again, I tried to sign last season and kept in contact with. He’s a hugely talented, young attacking midfielder who scored 15 goals in a relegated team last season. He’s going to compliment the other midfielders in our squad and I’m looking forward to helping him improve his game and develop.”
Welcome to Cheriton Road, Matt.
