With 10 games left to play in the Isthmian Premier Division season Invicta welcome Canvey Island on Saturday, looking to build on last weekend’s win over Kingstonian.
Invicta
Midfielder Ade Cole has departed the club this week. We thank Ade for his efforts for the club and wish him the best for the future.
Meanwhile manager Andy Drury has made 2 additions to his squad. Keep your eyes across our social media platforms on Saturday ahead of the match for more information.
From The Manager
Manager Andy Drury spoke on Thursday evening:
“We have 10 games to play and after last week’s win we want to build on that. This is a big 7 days and we need to start it off with a positive performance and result at home. We need as many points as possible from this week to set up up for a good run until the end of the season. We have added a couple of faces to the squad this week to help us finish the season strongly.”
Previously
Invicta were beaten 2-1 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Jake Goodman’s header equalised shortly before half time after Invicta were denied an early opener for a foul on the goalkeeper, before then being denied a second half penalty for handball and Jason Fregene hitting the bar with the last kick (header) of the game.
That win made it 3 wins in a row against Invicta for Canvey, having won home and away last season.
The Opposition
Canvey Island currently sit 15th in the Isthmian Premier Division with 40 points from 32 games, 2 places and 4 points above Invicta.
The danger man will likely be Bradley Sach who has scored 5 goals in the last 3 meetings between the sides.
Canvey have won just once in 9 games since beating Invicta back in January, a 3-0 win at home to Billericay Town. They are also 10 away fixtures without a win in all competitions, a run stretching back to a win at Hastings United in November.
