Originally scheduled for December, on Tuesday night we host Cray Wanderers at the Alcaline Stadium

From The Manager

Speaking on Monday manager Andy Drury said:

“Coming off the back of a good win on Saturday we are really looking forward to Tuesday night, coming back home and trying to get 3 points in front of our supporters.

There’s a real buzz around the boys at the minute, they’re working hard and we’ve started to see the rewards of that since the turn of the year, we want that to continue on Tuesday.”

Previously

The last 6 meetings between the clubs have produced only 1 home win: Invicta with a 1-0 victory in February 2022.

Wanderers have won on the other 2 of their visits to Cheriton Road since promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division, a 3-1 win in 2020 and a 4-2 win last season. Invicta Meanwhile have taken 5 points from the last 3 trips to Bromley.

We pointed out in our preview of the original fixture that all 3 of those previous home fixtures have taken place on a Tuesday night (the last 3 away fixtures also midweek, on Wednesdays) so that would have been a rare Saturday clash between the sides, but will instead now be another Tuesday night match. The return meeting is scheduled for a Sunday in March.

The Opposition

While Invicta have enjoyed an unbeaten start to 2024, Cray Wanderers are yet to pick up a win in 4 attempts since the turn of the year. Draws with Hastings United and Lewes have been followed by a late defeat to Bognor Regis Town and a 6-0 defeat at Billericay Town on Saturday.

Following Saturday’s results Wanderers currently sit a place and a point below Invicta in 17th having played a game more, so Tuesday’s fixture could be seen as a “6-pointer”.

Gary Lockyer is The Wands top scorer with 9 goals despite joining the club in September. Nyren Clunis and Anthony Cook both have 6 and Yahaya Bamba has 5 to his name.

Current Invicta forward Tom Derry made 6 appearances and scored once for Cray Wanderers earlier in the season.
