Invicta return to Isthmian Premier Division action on Saturday as Cheshunt visit the Alcaline Stadium
From The Managers
Speaking ahead of the weekend Micheal Everitt said:
“We are looking forward to Saturday’s game. After the disappointment of conceding late on last Saturday.
We’ve worked hard on the training pitch, with Dukes putting on a really good sessions on with the lads.
Tomorrows game will be a tough test against Chesnut who were in the Conference South last year. With their experienced manager Craig Edwards, who has done an excellent job at Chesnut already beating some of the bigger sides in our league. Craig is someone whom I spoken to a few times already this season, so I know it will be a hard challenge.
We are hoping to have a full squad tomorrow accompanied by a couple of new faces.”
Previously
Since Cheshunt were promoted from the Isthmian North Division in 2019 the clubs have only met 4 times due to COVID19 and Cheshunt’s season in the National League South.
The Ambers took all 3 points on their last visit to Cheriton Road in March 2022 on their way to securing promotion via the playoffs, with the clubs playing out a 0-0 draw earlier that season.
The fixture computer has a habit of throwing the sides together at this time of the year, with Cheshunt winning 2-1 at Theobold’s Lane on 13th October 2020 while Invicta were 4-2 winners at Cheriton Road on 15th October 2019. Both those seasons were brought to a premature end before the clubs could play a reverse fixture.
The Opposition
Having won the Isthmian Premier Division playoffs in 2022, Cheshunt were relegated from the National League South last season, finishing 23rd.
Manager Craig Edwards has been with the club since 2018, helping them avoid relegation and then achieving the promotions that took them to Step 2.
