Invicta and Margate will do battle for the 5th time this year on Tuesday night as the 2 sides meet for a place in the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round, with a trip to Chesham United the prize.

FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round

80 2nd Qualifying Round ties too place over the weekend with 20 of them going to a replay. 4 of those will take place on Monday night, 15 on Tuesday before the round is wrapped up on Wednesday when Ramsgate host Cray Wanderers. Cray Valley PM also host Northwood on Tuesday evening in the 3rd replay involving Kent clubs.

Speaking after Saturday’s match Roland Edge said:

“Today was a day I’m proud of my players, they all dug deep they fought to the very end and got a well deserved draw. We’re still in it. Tuesday night, the boys have got to look after themselves and do the right things and we go for it agin. A full ground is what we want, I think our boys deserve it.”

Previously

This will be the 5th time this year that Invicta and Margate have faced off, with Invicta winning the first 3 (4-0 in January, 1-0 in April & 2-0 in August) ahead of Saturday’s 2-2 draw. Previously to that Margate had been on a 3 game winning streak, with a league double in 2021/22 before a 1-0 Velocity Trophy win in November last year when Andy Drury was manager.

Ira Jackson has scored against Margate twice this year, getting Invicta’s second in both the August win and in Saturday’s draw. Ibrahim Olutade also has 2 goals against The Gate this year, scoring the winner in April and the opener on Saturday.

The Opposition

Since defeat at the Alcaline Stadium on August Bank Holiday Monday Margate have been unbeaten, with wins over Hendon in the FA Cup and Potters Bar Town in the league before Saturday’s draw. Striker Steve Cawley has been in the goals with 4 goals, scoring in all 3 fixtures.

All our fixtures are pay on the gate with no tickets sold in advance. Both cash and card are accepted on our turnstiles. Please arrive as early as possible to avoid queues at the turnstiles, especially as we expect a number Tuesday night crowd for this FA Cup derby.

Both Bar Invicta and the Wilf Armory bar will be open tomorrow evening. Due to ongoing works in the bar, hot food will be provided from an independent caterer with a van situated adjacent to the bowls club building. All outlets accept both cash and card.
