Following Defeat in Tuesday night’s opening home fixture of the season, Invicta will look to bounce back on Saturday as we host early Isthmian Premier Division leaders Enfield Town.

From The Managers

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s match, joint Head Coach Roland Edge said:

“On Saturday we welcome Enfield, a team that has started the season in fine form. They are a strong, well organised team with some good players, who will no doubt be there or there abouts by the end of the season. After the late disappointment on Tuesday night, it’s nice to have the opportunity to put things right.”

Previously

Invicta are unbeaten in 6 matches against Enfield, with 3 wins and 3 draws.

Invicta picked up 4 points last season against the Towners last season, a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium was followed up by a 3-0 Invicta win on a Tuesday night under the floodlights in February.

That win earlier this year was however the first defeat in 4 visits to Cheriton Road for Enfield, with 2 draws and win in the time.

A goalless draw in August 2021 will forever be remembered for the goal that never was, with an effort from David Smith not being given as a goal despite video evidence showing the ball had crossed the line. Hopefully we will see no such controversy on Saturday!

The Opposition

Enfield Town are the early Isthmian Premier Division leaders after 2 matches, beating Concord Rangers at home on the opening day before a win away at Potters Bar Town on Tuesday night. 2 clean sheets also means the North London side are yet to concede a goal this season.

Gavin Macpherson has taken over as manager this summer, replacing Andy Leese who had been in charge for 6 years.

Andre Coker left Enfield Town for Invicta this summer but top scorer Jake Cass remains as the spearhead of the attack.
