Defender Jake Goodman has joined Isthmian South East Division side Sittingbourne on loan for the start of the season.

The Brickies, managed by former Braintree Town manager Ryan Maxwell begin their season with an FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie at home to Jersey Bulls on Saturday before kicking off their league campaign at home to Cray Valley PM the following week.

Jake Goodman in pre-season training

“We have made a lot of changes to our squad this summer and adding Jake to our defensive options was important for us. We knew at the start of the summer that Callum would require an operation to fix an issue he had been playing with last season, so the expectation was that there was a decent possibility that he wouldn’t make the start of the season. We are delighted that Callum now fit, we feel that with many new additions and partnerships that need to build within the team, having the continuity of Callum alongside Ian Gayle is an important platform for us to build. Jake is still a big part of our plans for this season. We need to ensure he is still getting game time to stay fit and be game ready and this is important both for him and for the club.”

We wish Jake the best of luck for his loan spell and look forward to welcoming him back to the Alcaline Stadium soon.
