Pre-season continues on Tuesday evening as we travel to Gillingham to visit Southern Counties East Football League side Hollands & Blair.
Previously
Scour the archives as we might, we cannot find a record of any previous fixture with Hollands & Blair.
The Opposition
Lead by former Hythe Town & Hawkinge Town manager Scott Porter, Hollands & Blair won the SCEFL Challenge Cup last season, with a 2-1 win over Fisher at Whitstable Town. A year earlier they reached the Kent Senior Trophy final at Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium but fell in extra time to an all-conquering Sheppey United side who picked up four trophies.
Blair returned home to Star Meadow earlier this year following a period playing home fixtures at Lordswood as a new 3G playing surface was installed.
From The Managers
Joint Head Coach Micheal Everitt spoke on Monday:
“I feel you always learn more from losing games than winning games comfortably. As a group we have to focus on the mistakes we made and learn and understand how to rectify them but also make players aware of the positives that came out of the match on Saturday.
We might rest two or three and rotate the group. It will be good to get a first test on 3G this pre-season under our belts.
I’m looking forward to seeing Scott Porter and seeing the setup they have now with their new pitch. We expect a good test from them tomorrow night that will help us as we move closer to the start of our season next month.”
