BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division - Tuesday 8th October Round-up

Only one of the two scheduled BetVictor Isthmian League Premier games scheduled for Tuesday was played as the other was postponed.

In the one that went ahead, Horsham went a point clear at the top of the table, albeit having played a game more, following a 2-2 draw against Carshalton Athletic at The Camping World Community Stadium. ‘The Robins’ took the lead through Omar Koroma after 37 minutes, but two goals in the five minutes leading up to half-time from Chris Smith and Charlie Harris gave the home side the lead only for Bobby Price to level matters in the 77th minute. That was the end of the scoring, but Jordan Cheadle was sent off in the last minute following his second yellow card.

The other scheduled game was at Hartsdown Park, where Margate were due to welcome Leatherhead, however, following the sudden closure of the M2 delaying the arrival of players and officials, the fixture had to be postponed.

Also on Tuesday the two Emirates F.A. Cup Third Qualifying Round replays involving BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division clubs were played and it was good news as both got through.

Pride of place goes to Kingstonian as they travelled to BetVictor Southern League Premier South side Weston-super-Mare and came away with an excellent 4-1 win with goals in the first half from Fabio Saraiva and Jerry Puemo and in the second from Reece Hall and Louie Theophanous. The ‘Ks’ will now be away at Dartford of the Vanarama National League South side in the Fourth Qualifying Round.

The other game was a closer affair with North Division Canvey Island taking Premier Division Bowers & Pitsea all the way before losing 5-3 on penalties at their Len Salmon Stadium home. A Tobi Joseph goal gave them the lead in the first half before Bradley Warner equalised for Bowers & Pitsea and with neither side being able to get the vital winner it went to a penalty shoot-out. Bowers & Pitsea will now play South-East Division Chichester City in the game that guarantees that at least one BetVictor Isthmian League club will be in the First Round Proper, a stage which neither side has reached before.
