TEN-MAN INVICTA GO DOWN TO LATE MEEKUMS' STRIKE AT WORTHING

WORTHING 3

FOLKESTONE INVICTA 2

On-loan Bromley striker Reece Meekums broke Folkestone hearts with an 89th minute winning goal after Invicta had led twice at Woodside Road.

Kane Rowland was on hand to turn in a deflected cross by Ade Yusuff to give the visitors a 10th minute but a free kick from fullback Sam Rents levelled for the Mackerel Men midway through the first half.

There was more drama for Folkestone when Alfie Paxman was dismissed for a second yellow card in first half stoppage time, but Neil Cugley’s side went back in front with a well struck effort by Ronnie Dolan just before the hour.

And they held the lead until seven minutes from time when a ball was smashed across the face of goal and luckless captain Callum Davies couldn’t prevent it going in off him to put Worthing level once more.

Meekums – who moved to National League Bromley last summer and only returned on loan this week - had the last word for Adam Hinshelwood’s side who have now beaten Folkestone three times in a row.

Invicta: Roberts; Starkey, Paxman, O’Mara, Davies, Dolan, Hasler (Blanks), Everitt, Yusuff, Rowland (McCann), Ter Horst.
