INVICTA ON THE BOARD WITH A POINT AS SOME OF THE BIG NAMES STRUGGLE

Adjectives like ‘okay’ and ‘satisfactory’ spring to mind initially in summing up Folkestone Invicta’s opening Bostik Premier Division game of the season which ended in a 1-1 draw at Enfield Town’s art-deco Queen Elizabeth Stadium on Saturday.

It could have been better but could just as easily been far worse for Neil Cugley’s side who were without two key players in the injured Joe Taylor and Micheal Everitt.

Folkestone had much the better of the opening half and could have gone in two goals to the good at the break but Enfield pounced when the visitors were caught upfield and took the lead through Drew Roberts within seconds of the second half restart.

But Invicta deservedly drew level thanks to Ade Yussuf 15 minutes from time and the match could have gone either way in the tense final stages.

All in all, a reasonably fair result and unlike some of the far more highly vaunted sides in this division, Folkestone have a point on the board.
