Double With ‘The Rocks'

With our next two games both being against Bognor Regis Town, this preview covers Tuesday’s Alan Turvey Trophy (sponsored by Velocity) Second Round game at the BuildKent Stadium and next Saturday’s BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division game at Nyewood Lane.

Tuesday 14th January, kick-off 7:45pm

        vs

On Tuesday, ‘The Rocks’ visit the BuildKent Stadium for the second time this season, for an Alan Turvey Trophy (sponsored by Velocity) Second Round tie, kick-off 7:45pm. When the game was originally going to be played on December 21st, we ran a ‘Festive Fiver’ promotion, you’ll be pleased to hear that this will also apply on Tuesday, so admission prices will be Adults; £5.00, Concessions; £3.00 and Under 16s; Free.

In October, ‘The Rocks’ inflicted our first and so far only home League defeat this season when they left the Buildbase Stadium with a 2-1 victory. At the time they came to the game in 15th position and since then they haven’t looked back as that result became the catalyst for a remarkable run which has seen them win six of their last ten League games, draw one and lose three, which has seen them climb to 10th in the table and into the chase for a Play-Off place. Full details of that game appeared in the preview of the original game on December 21st, so if you want to see the details please go back to that article.

Since that article appeared, ‘The Rocks’ have strengthened their squad, bringing in defenders Harry Kavanagh and Matt Casey, both on loan from Portsmouth, plus striker Mo Diallo from Newhaven.

And What About Us?

Neil was optimistic about the game and looking forward to playing ‘The Rocks’ again; “I’m looking forward to the game, Bognor are a good footballing side and I expect them to field a strong side, as they have a good link-up with Portsmouth Football Club and I’d expect their loan players to play although of course we owe them one from earlier in the season, I don’t enjoy losing, even more so at home. “I’ve already mentioned previously that I’m going to give game time to some of the players who have missed out recently, so Henry [Newcombe] will play in goal and Chin {McKenzie] and Kieron [McCann] will both also start. “Matt [Newman] won’t play as we feel a few more days rest will enable him to play on Saturday, although Sam [Hasler] may make a cameo appearance and I’m also considering giving Youth Team prospect Tyler Sterling a few minutes too. We will then assess everyone’s performance before deciding on the starting eleven for the League game at Bognor on Saturday. “Hopefully we won’t pick up any further injuries and everyone will be available apart from Alfie [Paxman] who will complete his suspension with the two Bognor games.”
