BetVictor Isthmian League - September Awards

The latest set of awards for September have been announced.

Manager of the Month sponsored by Anderson Travel

This season not only will Anderson’s Travel sponsor the Isthmian Youth League, but they have also confirmed that they will generously continue their ‘Manager of the Month’ sponsorship in tandem.

Premier Division; Last season Horsham Manager Dom Di Paola won the South East Division award many times as his side achieved Play-Off success and he has now added to them in the Premier Division. ‘The Hornets’ have made a great start to the season and currently sit in 2nd place, during September they won every League game, two of them away at Brightlingsea Regent and Wingate & Finchley.

North Division; Great Wakering Rovers picked up seven points from their three League matches in September, defeating Witham Town and Romford and picking up a point at Basildon United, which saw them break into the Play-Off places. Congratulations go to Manager Stephen Butterworth and don’t forget former Invicta player Simon Glover is the club’s Coach.

South Central Division; Westfield had a magnificent September, winning all three League matches with an aggregate score of 13-2, and although cup matches aren’t taken into account, it’s also worth mentioning an 8-0 thrashing of F.C. Romania in the Velocity Trophy. So, the plaudits go to Tony Reid.

South East Division; The award has gone to Phoenix Sports Manager Paul Bryon. August had been an terrible month for the club, which makes the way they bounced back in September even more impressive. They won all three League matches played in the month, scoring an aggregate of ten goals against East Grinstead Town, Whitehawk and Hythe Town.

Golden Gloves sponsored by AB1

This season there are new sponsors of the Golden Gloves Awards in AB1 which is the company of Premier League winner and Bosnian international goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Due to the amount of cup games last month, the winners had to have played a minimum of three League games to qualify.

Premier Division; Horsham are having a great season on their return to the Premier Division and they let in just one goal in three games, so the award goes to their goalkeeper George Bentley.

North Division; Great Wakering Town conceded just two goals in their three games, so goalkeeper Bobby Mason picks up the award.

South Central Division; Having won the award for August, Westfield have also picked it up for September as they conceded just two goals. In August they used two goalkeepers, Gary Ross and Laurence Girard, whereas this month Ross was an ever-present in the League games. Perhaps he’ll be kind and give Girard a glove, so they have a pair each!

South East Division; The award has been won by Phoenix Sports goalkeeper Steve Phillips, despite letting in four goals in three games, there must be a lot of goals about in the South East Division!

Performance of the Month sponsored by Supreme Trophies & Engraving

Supreme Trophies and Engraving provide all of the League’s trophies, as well as continuing to sponsor our Performance of the Month Awards.

All the Divisional awards for September have gone to clubs who performed well in the Second Qualifying Round of the Emirates F.A. Cup.

Premier Division; Corinthian-Casuals fans haven’t been given too much to cheer about in the League so far this season, but it has been a different story in the Emirates F.A. Cup. Having beaten South Division Sevenoaks Town 4-0 in the First Qualifying Round they were handed a tough tie at home against Vanarama National League South Chelmsford City. With goals from Nathaniel Pinney and Shaun Okojie they registered a 2-0 win.

North Division; Canvey Island travelled to Step Three St. Ives Town of the BetVictor Southern League Premier Division Central in the Second Qualifying Round, held them to a goalless draw, then came from behind to win the replay 3-2 after extra time.

South Central Division; Tooting & Mitcham United, who are undefeated in all competitions so far this season, were drawn at home against Vanarama National League South and current BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division Champions Dorking Wanderers. They won 1-0 but did it the hard way though, as having taken the lead they then had to play the last half an hour with ten men.

South East Division; To complete the quartet of fine Emirates F.A. Cup performances, Chichester City, newly promoted from the Southern Combination Football League (SCFL) at the end of last season, were drawn away at BetVictor Southern League Premier Division South Hartley Wintney and came away with a goalless draw before winning the replay 1-0 at Oaklands Park.
