2018/19 Play-Offs Updated (again!)

Well, we are nearly there, with the Divisional Play-Offs all now completed and just the Super Play-Offs to go.  It’s been a busy few days, I’ve seen seven games (missing the Premier Division Play-Off Semi-Final due to the KitToFit Kent Youth League Cup Final), and covered 1,041 miles. The Semi-Final results have been removed from this article to keep it a bit shorter!

Step Three

FINAL RESULTS

Saturday 4th May

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division

South Shields (2.175)                     1             Warrington Town (2.100)             2

Bostik League Premier Division

Tonbridge Angels (1.667)              2             Merstham (1.667)                           0

Evo-Stik Southern League Premier South Division

Metropolitan Police (1.857)         1             Poole Town (1.667)                         0

Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Central Division

King’s Lynn Town (1.905)              3             Alvechurch (1.738)                          0

SUPER PLAY-OFF FINAL FIXTURES

Saturday 13th May

The Super Play-Offs will be played between the Divisional Play-Off Final winners with the club with the best PPG hosting the game.

Bostik League Premier Division P/O Winners vs Evo-Stik SL Premier South Division P/O Winners

Evo-Stik SL Premier Central Division P/O Winners vs Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division P/O Winners.

So, looking at the teams that have qualified for the Finals and their PPG records, based on the above, the Super Play-Off Finals will be;

Metropolitan Police (1.857)         vs            Tonbridge Angels (1.667)

Warrington Town (2.100)              vs            King’s Lynn Town (1.905)

Step Four

FINAL RESULTS

Bostik League South-East Division

Horsham (2.056)                              2             Ashford United (1.889)                  1 (aet)

Bostik League South-Central Division

Bracknell Town (2.026)                  0             Cheshunt (2.000)                             3

Bostik League North Division

Malden & Tiptree (2.079)             2             Heybridge Swifts (1.947)              3 (aet, 0-2 on pens)

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League West Division

Radcliffe FC (1.974)                         2             Leek Town (1.947)                           1

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League East Division

Pontefract Collieries (2.000)        0             Brighouse Town (1.868)                3

Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central Division

Bromsgrove Sporting (2.289)      4             Corby Town (2.026)                        3

Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South Division

Yate Town (1.974)                            3             Cinderford Town (1.868)               1

Therefore, the seven Play-Off winners are as below;

Bromsgrove Sporting      SLD1C                   2.289                    (+64)

Horsham                              ILSE                        2.056                    (+35)

Cheshunt                             ILSC                        2.000                    (+36)

Radcliffe FC                         NPLW                    1.974                    (+39)

Yate Town                            SLD1S                    1.974                    (+23)

Heybridge Swifts              ILN                         1.947                    (+19)

Brighouse Town                NPLE                      1.868                    (+31)

So, Brighouse Town and Heybridge Swifts won’t be promoted due to only five going up and they are the two with the lowest PPG totals.

Of the sides promoted within the Bostik League, Bowers & Pitsea (North Division) and Cray Wanderers (South-East Division) will come up as Champions and Play-Off winners Horsham (South-East Division) will be almost certain to come up to the Premier Division. With Cheshunt (South Central Division) winning their Play-Off, they may also be promoted to the Premier Division, bearing in mind not only their proximity to Enfield for example (around 3 miles), but if a club ground shares with a team run by the same League they tend to stay in the same one, and Cheshunt share with FC Romania who play in the South-Central Division.

However, as I’ve mentioned before, it’s important to remember that some clubs around ‘The Pyramid’ may get a reprieve (or indeed be relegated) for one reason or another, at the time of writing there are a number of clubs that are facing uncertainty or have possible issues concerning promotion, so things won’t be finalised until the relevant Leagues have agreed the constitutions at their Annual General Meetings (scheduled for June).

I’ll do a further update once all the Super Play-Off Finals have been played on Saturday 11th May. By then all will be completed and I’ll have a go at estimating (okay, guessing!) what the constitution may be for the Bostik League Premier Division next season.
