Seven Up for the Youth Team

The Youth Team eased to a 7-1 victory over second placed Sheppey United this morning in the Kent Youth League Premier Division South, although credit must be given to our opponents as they played the whole game with ten men.

We made a good start and took the lead after just four minutes when Ethan Madden tapped home a Bradley Baker corner from virtually on the goal-line and we continued to dominate the game, but on 18 minutes a long through ball caught out the Invicta defence and James Hursey was brought down in the penalty area by Joss Wickham who was booked for his troubles. Hursey got up and hammered the ball past Invicta goalkeeper Joe Coleman to bring parity back to the score. The game continued in the same pattern with Invicta making a number of chances that went begging but Sheppey United looking to catch us on the break and a couple of times Ethan Madden was forced to make last ditch interceptions to stop the ball going through. Eventually the pressure told as on 37 minutes Bradley Baker shot home powerfully from the edge of the penalty area to give us a 2-1 half-time advantage.

Within five minutes of the break we had extended our lead when Jordan Small cleverly laid Baker’s cross off to Hector Dupree who slotted the ball into the corner. Baker then scored his second following a great through ball from Dupree and then saw another of his corner’s turned home by Shawn Ikwuaga to give us a 5-1 advantage. It then get better for Baker as following a fine run and cross from Lucas Wade he tapped in to complete his hat-trick. Incidentally, for the older fans out there, Lucas Wade is the grandson of Folkestone Town legend Denis Churms. Almost inevitably Jack Price then got the 7th to round of the scoring.

The Invicta squad was;

Folkestone Invicta - Joe Coleman, Chris Calthorpe, Finn Wood, Kieron Jones, Ethan Madden (capt), Joss Wickham, Jack Price, Tyler Sterling, Jordan Small, Hector Dupree, Bradley Baker, Shawn Ikwuagua, Jacob Emery, Ethan Farnham & Lucas Wade.

Our next game is on Wednesday 17th April when we visit Hollands & Blair, kick-off 7:45pm.
