FOLKESTONE INVICTA 4 LEWES 0

Ira Jackson hit a first half hat-trick to give Folkestone Invi8cta a comfortable victory over fellow –play off challengers Lewes.

This was the 21-year-old striker’s first home starting appearance for the club after he had made his full debut away to Carshalton Athletic the previous weekend having joined the Folkestone club from Sittingbourne during January.

JACKSON opened the scoring in the fourth minute when an Alfie Paxman shot from the edge of the box fell to him in a central position inside the penalty area and he slotted the ball into the net after being given on side.

It was 2-0 in the 22nd minute when Micheal Everitt found Josh Vincent on the right whose ball into the penalty area was converted by JACKSON. The goal came after Invicta defender Finn O’Mara had thrown himself to block from Kieron Pamment and the home side broke through Ian Draycott who found Kieron McCann on the left.

JACKSON completed his hat-trick with a great finish in the 34th minute after Everitt had played the ball forward and Paxman held it up.

Jackson was also involved in the final goal as he chipped the ball into the penalty area for HEARD to find the target in the 84th minute.

It was not Lewes’ day and striker Ben Pope shot wide of the target from the edge of the box when home goalkeeper Tim Roberts came outside his penalty area in the 56th minute.

This was Lewes’ first visit to meet Folkestone Invicta away in a senior fixture but The Fullick Stadium provided familiar surroundings for visiting captain Frankie Chappell who made 501 appearances for the Folkestone club and was voted Supporters’ Player of the Year twice before leaving for Lewes at the end of the 2016-17 season.
