NINE GOALS IN THEIR FINAL TWO GAMES AS INVICTA END A SATISFACTORY PRE-SEASON PROGRAMME

Highly rated Ex Sittingbourne striker Kane Rowland completed the scoring at The Homelands

Invicta ended their run up to the start of the new season with a comfortable 4-0 win over Bostik South East newcomers Ashford United, scoring twice in each half against Gary Alexander’s new look side at The Homelands.

A smartly taken goal by Ronnie Dolan within seconds of the start put them on their way with Alfie Paxman (pictured below) grabbing his first for the club before the break.

Trialist Luis Medina scored for the second time in as many games and much-admired young Sitttingbourne striker Kane Rowland marked his first appearance in a Folkestone shirt with the fourth goal to complete both a very satisfactory win and the Fullicks Stadium side’s warm up towards the Bostik Premier Division campaign which kicks off against Enfield Town next weekend.

Circumstances

And that’s three wins, three draws and three losses for Neil Cugley’s side, with the 5-0 home defeat against a virtual 20-man Maidstone United squad the only result that could be called in any way embarrassing - and that a combination of circumstances that would have challenged any club from Invicta’s level against the standard of opposition they their manager had lined up for them.

Folkestone fielded a starting eleven that included two youth team players being given their ‘first team debuts’ with several members of what is looking Cugley’s most likely starting line-up either away or rested on this occasion.

The manager clearly has one or two decisions to make over who and how many of the new faces he can keep while staying within his wage budget.

Fokestone Invicta: Roberts (Shaw); Aboagye, Newman, Davies (Jordan), Evans (Baker); Ter Horst (Yusuff 45), Dolan, Draycott, Rowland, Paxman (Medina), Everitt

* Please see previous postings on this website regarding travel arrangements for supporters to our first three away games. We would ask you to let either John Law or Derek Miller know if you wish to book a place on the coaches/mini-bus for these three fixtures. If you want us to be able to run transport to future away games it is important that we get an idea of what sort of numbers arre going to be involved . For the game at Bishops Stortford on Satrurday, September 1st, John needs to have your bookings as soon as possible.. Please see that posting as this is a Supporters' only coach which does not leave Bar Invicta until 12.15pm, a departure time that suits many fans better than the earlier times when we take the team and club officials with us to away games.

Thank you for your co-operation.
