FFSC - NEWSLETTER, SEPTEMBER 2018

I have been asked by Trevor Bishop to do a newsletter for web site as he feels fans are not aware what goes on.

Now the season is well underway many fans have asked for a regular update from the Supporters Club.

It has been a busy summer for the volunteers who work so hard on getting the ground ready for the new season. Many thanks to all those who helped. I know you all agree that the ground looks really good.

Geoff has been working on the club shop again keeping it wind and water-tight and sorting the thousands of programmes into order this time he had some help from Ron Smith.

We have a new voice on the PA in Ade Dawkes who will be helped by Kevin as usual hoping to maintain the high standards set by Terry Hardie.

We have made financial contributions to the club since the end of last season . The Supporters Club paid for the Hendon Coach in play-offs, costing us £450 and topped this up with a cheque for £50 to make a final £500 donation We also paid £300 towards the signing of Alfie Paxman. With the new season starting we aim for to spend the £800 month on various projects with a top-up when we can for playing budget or travel expenses .

We paid £300 for the Tea Bar wall repairs and £465 on a coach so a total of £765.

Our income has been down due to poor ticket sales from the 50/50 draw I think the increased entry charge and cost of pre-season friendlies may have caused this. Things have already picked up however, now that the season is getting well underway.

We are trying our best to get fans to away games at a good cost and not to make a loss. We have continued with Buzzlines for our larger coaches and have now agreed a deal with Britannia Coaches who specialise in smaller executive mini-coaches. They have also agreed to sponsor some rain jackets for the ticket-sellers.

The 12th Man Scheme has not worked and will be closed down with the money raised given to the club's playing budget.

The Grid now has £2780 in the pot with 139 squares sold. We have 38 members signed up always room for more.

Quiz nights are back it's a fun night so please try to come along. The first of these is in a couple of weeks, on Wednesday, September 26th.

If you've not been to our quizzes before it's all fairly informal and Bryan (Pearce) always gives us some testing, but not impossible questions to get the old grey matter working.

We've got some new faces in to help out on matchday fundraising, but we need several more as we've lost both Harry Lester and Herbie Tyler (snr), at least for the time being. Just contact me or Mick Cork and we'll be delighted to have you on board.
