TER HORST BACK WITH DOUBLE BUT IT CAN'T REDEEM INVICTA'S POOR FIRST HALF EFFORT

WORTHING 3

FOLKESTONE INVICTA 2

Johan Ter Horst marked his return to Invicta with a goal late in each half at Worthing on Saturday.

But those two magic moments were never quite going to compensate for Folkestone’s poor first 40 minutes when they gave the ball away far too easily and were lucky not to be more than 2-0 behind before Ter Horst gave the visiting fans hope with a fine header from Ian Draycott’s superb cross.

The introduction of Kieron McCann at the break gave the visitors a boost but a third goal midway through the second half restored the young Rebels’ two goal advantage.

Ter Horst’s determined strike from the edge of the box on 88 minutes offered hope of a dramatic point saving comeback and McCann forced a decent save from Worthing’s desperately theatrical Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Covolan.

And two radically wrong late decisions from the officials left Folkestone with nothing to show from the day.
