Two goals inside the first 25 minutes gave a strong Welling United side a place in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup as they beat Folkestone Invicta’s Under 18s 2-0 at the Fullicks Stadium on Thursday evening.

Head coach Paul Stanton said: “We struggled to cope with their physical strength, and particularly one very quick and talented lad up front. There were a number of scouts at the match and I’d say it was not hard to see who they were looking at.”

Invicta improved in the second half and created a few chances without quite converting any of them.

“It would have been interesting if we had scored and could seen what they were like when the chips were down, but we couldn’t get that all important goal and they remained fairly comfortable, if I’m honest.”

Both goals came from Wings' impressive forward Oliver Milton and they have drawn to play Dover Athletic in the third round.
