Folkestone Invicta picked up another three points and scored another three goals with a 3-1 victory over Corinthian-Casuals at The BuildKent Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It was Invicta’s first Saturday win of 2020 and the second placed Folkestone club’s first BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division win since a 4-0 win at Merstham on New Year’s Day.

Corinthian-Casuals are third from bottom in the league and have now won only once in nine visits to Cheriton Road to meet Invicta (in 2009-10) but held their own for long periods here before second half goals from Josh Vincent and Ira Jackson secured victory for Neil Cugley’s side after the visitors had equalised soon after the interval.

Having won 4-3 at home to Bognor Regis Town in the League Cup on Tuesday night, Invicta brought goalkeeper Tim Roberts, player-coach Micheal Everitt and top goalscorer Ira Jackson back into the starting X1, while Alfie Paxman returned from suspension at left back in place of Nat Blanks.

The visitors went close early on when from the game’s first corner in the fourth minute Bradley Wilson’s set piece from the right was met by a strong Ben Checklit header that home goalkeeper Roberts did well to touch over the crossbar.

For Invicta, Ronnie Dolan drove a 13th minute shot in that was blocked by Checklit inside the penalty area.

Dolan then found Scott Heard four minutes later who picked out the advancing Paxman on the left hand side who cut inside Warren Sadare-Morgan but didn’t get enough on his shot.

At the other end, Sadare-Morgan attempted to thread a 21st minute ball through to Shaun Okojie but it carried to Roberts.

A good 24th minute Dolan ball found JohanTer Horst on the right but the latter’s ball in did not get past defender Robert Jamison who put it out for a corner.

Mathias Bakare received the ball from Wilson and tried to thread it through to strtiker Okojie but it again carried to Roberts.

One-time Corinthian-Casuals striker Jerson Dos Santos rifled a low shot wide on the half hour mark following a Jackson touch after a Vincent throw in from the right.

A 36th minute Paxman shot deflected for a corner after Heard had initially found Paxman on the left and it then broke for Jackson before coming off a defneder.

Jackson soon had a shot saved for the corner that led to the opening goal after Dolan had played the ball up the right hand side to Heard.  Heard’s subsequent set piece from the right was touched into his own net by Corinthian-Casuals goalkeeper and captain Danny BRACKEN who was under pressure from Jackson.

Corinthian-Casuals had a chance to reply a minute later but Wilson didn’t get his shot in when Okojie played a low ball across from the left.

It was to be a very misty second half as visibility deteriorated.

The visitors were level in the 49th minute when OKOJIE poked his shot into the net after Checklit had played it across from the left hand side.

Dos Santos then volleyed well wide at the far post for Invicta when the ball came in from the right hand side three minutes later.

Jackson gained a 57th minute corner when Heard played the ball to the right hand side of the box and Jackson then hit a powerful strike wide of the target a minute later when Everitt dispossessd Kevant Serbony and found Dos Santos.

Invicta restored their lead in the 60th minute when a Paxman cross from the left was headed in by fellow full back VINCENT.

Dos Santos then shot at Bracken from outside the penalty area on the hour mark.

At the other end, a well-struck Bakare shot from the right hand side was saved by Roberts at his near post in the 64th minute.

Visiting substitute Oliver Sitch broke down the left hand side of the penalty area a minute later but Invicta captain Callum Davies made a saving tackle at the expense of a corner.

Sadare-Morgan’s 67th minute free kick from the left was then met by a glancing header wide from Jamison.

But Invicta made it 3-1 in the 75th minute when JACKSON made it 11 goals in the last 13 fixtures after Everitt had headed a Vincent cross from the right against the crossbar.

Sitch was fouled by Davies when receiving the ball from Gabriel Odunaike two minutes later and after initailly playing an advantage until there was a foul on Paxman inside the home penalty area referee Peter Cruise pulled play back to book Davies and award the visiotrs a free kick.

A Sitch shot was touched past the post by Roberts after an 81st minute Sadare-Morgan ball into the right hand side of the Invicta penalty area. Bakare’s subsequent corner from the right was met by a Jack Strange header but Roberts held.

Invicta gave a late league debut to 17-year-old Tyler Sterling who had also come on as a second half substitute in the midweek home tie against Bognor.

There were late bookings for Corinthian-Casuals’ Serbony (87th minute) and for Invicta’s Heard (stoppage time foul on Sadare-Morgan).

Ten goals for Invicta in three matches over eight days. That’s entertainment.
