Folkestone Invicta 6

Tenterden Town Reserves 1

Invicta opened their account in the Ashford & District League with a fine victory over Tenterden on Saturday.

Tenterden started the game well with some good possession and winning a few free kicks that were well defended.

Despite having only 10 players throughout the game, Tenterden took the lead following a mix up when keeper Froud's attempted clearance from a backpass cannoned off a defender into his own net.

That fired Invicta up and Chris Prebble and Jack Smith started to take control in midfield but the final ball was not quite there.

The Tenterden keeper made two good saves at point blank range from Joe Bennett  but just before half-time Invicta forced a corner which was converted by Prebble at the far post to put Invicta level.

Folkestone made changes at the break and within minutes of the restart they went ahead through a lob by man of the match Prebble after good work down the right by Connell Baker.

The opposition were starting to tire and Jamie Farnes fed Lee Baker who beat two men down the left before firing home.

Baker made it 4-1 with his second goal of the game and completed a fine hat-trick after breaking down the right and cutting in to find the bottom corner.

Rhys Haywood’s cross allowed Joe Bennett to complete the scoring with virtually the last kick of the game.
